How to measure for a custom patio furniture cover
Custom covers fail for the opposite reason cushions do: people add inches for slack, and end up with a wind-catching tent. Give us the true size — we build in the drape.
Three measurements, cushions in place
- Width — widest points, arm to arm.
- Depth — front to back, with the seat cushions in place (that's the real loaded footprint).
- Height — from the ground to the top of the backrest, so the cover skirts down over the legs.
Don't add slack
A cover that's too big billows and lifts in wind, and pools water on top. We add the correct tolerance and drape for your exact numbers, plus tie-downs and a vent — a snug cover sheds weather; a loose one collects it.
Round tables
Measure the diameter and use it for both width and depth; measure height to the tallest point (a chair back, if chairs stay under it).
FAQ
Should I add inches so it fits over the furniture?
No — give the true measurement. We add the correct drape and tolerance so it slips on but stays snug; adding your own slack makes it a wind sail.
Measure with or without the cushions?
With the seat cushions in place — that's the loaded footprint the cover actually has to clear.
